UK theses online: EThOS

This is a: snip, written by Birgit Kellner 339 days ago.
Keywords: digitisation

The British Library launched the beta of EThOS – electronic theses online service, which digitises student theses from UK universities and makes them available for download (PDFs with OCR).

Users need to register. They can then collect theses in a virtual basket and, once they are done, download those that have already been digitised – for free. For theses that have not yet been digitised, placing them in your basket and formally completing your virtual shopping tour amounts to an order. As I understand it, the theses will then be digitised within 90 days, and you will be notified. A great service!

What is on offer depends on whether the participating institutions support open access to their theses. As I’ve been able to determine so far, from among the universities of interest for South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies, unfortunately Oxford does not (or not yet) support access to its theses via EThOS.
